Executive portrait

This is an environmental portrait of Christopher Donahue, CEO and President, Federated Investors, recently photographed for Pensions and Investments Magazine at Federated Investors, Pittsburgh. This was a fun shoot, Mr. Donahue graciously allowed his time for two different locations with variations. For this image, I processed the RAW file in a way that makes the photo look more like a painting. It is a new technique (at least for me) that I have been experimenting a little with lately. I'm still not sure if I really like the look for the "look", or just because I can "do it in Photoshop". What do you think?

Canon Professional Services pulls a not so smart move..

As a member of Canon Professional Services and a life long Canon user I am more than a little unhappy with Canon's recent decision to start charging Pros for their memberships.  It is not so bad that they are charging for some of their services such as expedited repairs and equipment loans, but they are now dictating the model of equipment you must have to be a member.  Many of their digital cameras work fine for pros, yet Canon considers only people who own the flagship models to be worthy of their programs.  Apparently they have never heard the axiom, "cameras are just tool, photographers make photos".

You can read more thoughts on this by my long time friend and fellow Canon user, Chicago photographer, Joe Pobereskin at his Blog

Welcome to the Annual Report Photographer blog!

Thanks for visiting the annual report photos blog site of corporate-industrial photographer, Mark Bolster!  I am a 30 year veteran of producing photography for corporate annual reports, capability brochures, quarterly reports, and corporate website photos.  My client list consists of many FORTUNE 500 clients as well as many smaller start up companies in the technology, finance, petro-chemical, and pharmaceutical industries.

I am a Pittsburgh based, corporate and advertising photographer who is internationally traveled and produces photo shoots to maximize time and cost.   I look forward to posting photos, travel tips, production tips, and content that relates to corporate photography, annual reports, corporate executives and upper management portraits, and investor relations departments. I hope you enjoy the site and encourage any comments or questions regarding annual report photos.  You may email me at: mbolster(at)markbolster(dot)com and I'll be sure to address your query!

I hope you will find this source entertaining and educational.  I have my opinions, and they are not always politically correct, but rest assured they do come from the heart and from someone who has seen the trenches and avoided many of the land mines of annual report photography.
